Before and after EVLT

What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are veins that have become dilated or bulging because of valve failure. Varicose veins usually occur in superficial veins just under the skin, but could be a sign of a deep vein problem.

The steps for Endovenous Laser Treatment: EVLT:

- Ultrasound is used to evaluate and determine the source of your vein problems.

- A prescription for Class II elastic stocking is given to you. Bring them with you on the day of the procedure.

- A Laser Fiber is introduced and the vein is treated in less than two minutes.

- Endovenous Laser Ablation is done under ultrasound guidance, requires no general anesthesia, and is performed in the office.

- After the procedure, the patient is encouraged to walk immediately and resume normal activities. The patient is seen in the office after one week.

What is Sclerotherapy?

A substance called a sclerosing agent is injected with a fine needle into small veins to cause inflammation and eventual obliteration of the blood vessel.

What do I need to do to prepare for Sclerotherapy?

- Shave your legs the night before.

- Wear loose pants or a skirt to accommodate bandages.

- Bring a pair of shorts to wear during the session.

- Bring a class II elastic stocking with you to wear after the treatment.

What are common side effects?

- Mild itching experienced at the vein site and along its course

- Brownish skin pigment after the vessel is treated. The veins gradually and steadily fade over the next 12 to 15 months.

- Rarely a patient may have an allergic reaction to sclerosing agent solutions.

- Occasionally patients may experience pain at the site of injection. This is temporary and usually resolved in three to six weeks.

Then this is not the answer

Over 50 percent of adult population over age of 50 has some degree of hemorrhoids

  Internal and external hemorrhoids
Video Dr. Mando is the Medical Director of the Center for Colorectal Health in Louisiana. At The Center for Colorectal Health, we use the patented and proprietary CRH-O’Regan Disposable Hemorrhoid Banding System, considered the “gold standard” treatment. This highly effective, minimally invasive procedure is performed in our offices in less than a minute. If there are multiple hemorrhoids, we treat them one at a time in separate visits. During the brief and painless procedure, Dr. Mando places a small rubber band around the tissue just above the internal hemorrhoid where there are a few pain-sensitive nerve endings.  Unlike traditional banding techniques that use a metal-toothed clamp to grasp the tissue, we use a gentle suction device, reducing the risk of pain and bleeding. Our banding procedure works by cutting off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid. This causes the hemorrhoid to shrink and fall off, typically within a few days. To learn more click here. For appointment call 504-464-8619.
